Riwai huamata

On Wednesday my mum and I were making riwai huamata.
First we peeled the riwai.

Then we put some whero aniana in to the riwai huamata, that did not go to plan because it was not cooked and I thought it ruined my riwai huamata.

After that we put some puna aniana in to the riwai huamata.

When the riwai finished cooking and the riwai was soft, we cut them up again in to bite size pieces and put it in a bowl with 3 tablespoons of mayonaise and the secret ingredient ''CHICKEN SALT''.

Now here is our final riwai huamata.

Next time I wont be adding any whero aniana.

Egg drop challenge

Today I made an egg float.
First I was going to make a parachute but it did not work because the egg was too heavy.
Next I had an idea of making a hot air balloon and putting the egg inside of the basket.
I first made the basket out of toothpicks but that did not go to plan because the glue from my hot glue gun did not stick, my dad had an idea of using a piece of a egg tray for the basket and I said "yes".
I put some duck tape for the walls so the egg does not fall out of the basket next I got some string and tied it to the 4 corners then on the other side I blew up a balloon so it will not hit the ground as hard, I had a few test tries off the balconey and the balloon poped.
I added some tissues to the basket to make it softer when it lands.
I threw the hot air balloon off the balconey with the real egg and the balloon poped again but the egg did not crack open and that was lucky so then I brought the egg back up stairs and the basket was not damaged.

My Bubble

Because we are in lockdown we have to stay home.

Everyday my parents and I  go for a walk, every morning and afternoon.   We see a lot of people down at the Dunkirk Reserve walking too.

Te Puna Wairua has a video call site to keep up with each other on work.

Most of the time I watch movies and eat popcorn, all I can hear are the birds because there is not that much cars and it is the same with the stars, the stars are bigger and brighter because there are not that much buildings in use.

One time my parents and I were soo bored, we played a game of golf and the winner gets a peanut slab! Unfortuiately I did not win the penut slab, my dad did.

Baking Cookies

On Tuesday I did some baking.
I baked chocolate cookies, the recipe and mixture came in a cardboard box and a plastic bag.
I set the oven to 180 degrees now we are ready to go.

  • Put the powder mix in a large bowl with 2 small eggs or 1 bigg egg add 80 grams of soft butter.
  • Stir until no powder is left.
  • Remember to put baking paper on the tray.
  • Use a table spoon to put the mixture onto the tray.
  • Put the cookies 5 cm apart.
  • Put in oven for 20 to 30 minutes.

    Harakeke

    Kia ora whanau.
On Thursday my parents and I went to go for a walk, so I took my pocket knife to get some harakeke (flax) because Whaea Lee said we are going to make some putiputi (flowers) on friday.  We cut the Harakeke at the school then came home.

On friday we went on the video call to make harakeke putiputi and whaea Lee showed us how to do it.  She said it is like a clock you turn to 3 o clock then 6 then 9 back to 12.
Repeat it then pull the leftover harakeke through the middle hole, start twisting then tie a knot and there is your flower.
I really struggled with this but this video helped me alot.
